It was a fun-filled Christmas celebration for 60 underprivileged children from Ambedkar Nagar slum as they enjoyed a bash organised by ‘CybageAsha’, the corporate social responsibility wing of city-headquartered Cybage Software.

The children, who were treated with mouth-watering food and entertainment, are children of alcohol addicts, who are now part of the de-addiction centres run by ‘CybageAsha’. The event also had children from Greentara Foundation.

As a part of an initiative to include weaker sections of the society in festive celebrations, ‘CybageAsha’ also contributed Rs 20 lakh among ten NGOs. Deepak Nathani, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director, Cybage Software, along with Arun Nathani, CEO, Cybage Software, were present at the event to hand over contributions to the organisations.

Deepak Nathani said that every year the festive season is an opportunity for ‘CybageAsha’ to extend support towards weaker sections of society. “Even as we celebrate festivities with happiness all around, there are many for whom these days are as much a struggle for survival as any other day,” Nathani said.

Each of the 10 NGOs have been provided financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each. These NGOs are working for welfare of underprivileged and disabled children, senior citizens.

Preeti Vaidya of Kinara Vruddha and Matimanda Seva Trust, which helps senior citizens and mentally handicapped patients in the city, urged that corporates should come out in support of NGOs.

A representative of NGO Astitva Pratishthan, that works for empowerment of rural youth, said migration of people from villages can be avoided by educating these youths.
